Guest Bloomer: Jude…

Welcome guest bloomer Jude as she shares how she remains VISIBLE as a Womon/Black?

~ ~ ~

As a curvaceous woman of color with a thick natural, it is hard to miss me and yet easy to stare. So the body you see can be labeled in many ways: woman, sister, daughter, best friend, healer, pet-owner. Sometimes I can be the embodiment of these roles and sometimes I must push against the stream to remain in these roles peacefully. I maintain my visibility by not being pushed into the shadows and standing my ground. We are all humans who want the basic respect that our mere existence should afford. When one human is stifled by the views of another, our own brilliance is diminished. So the way I remain visible is to be a quiet disruption to what is accepted as the norm; to be a passive obstruction to the aggressive and biased views and actions of those who wish to hinder or ignore those less privileged than themselves. I find that they learn that they will either have to go around or go through me and, depending upon their determination, one of those actions is gonna leave a mark…
